During The Flight SriLankan Airlines

During The Flight SriLankan Airlines
Travel tips for your trip to Sri Lanka Hotel Maps Famous Places in Sri Lanka helps you to make your trip to Sri Lanka in the holiday a Splendid One

During The Flight SriLankan Airlines

Equalise your ear pressure

During ascent and descent, changes in the cabin pressure can cause a mild pain in your ears. Sucking and swallowing will help equalise the pressure in your ears. Babies or young passengers may suffer more acutely, so consider providing them with a dummy to suck on.

Moisturise

Your skin can dry out during the flight due to the drier cabin air. To combat this, pamper yourself with a good quality skin moisturiser.

Make yourself comfortable

It is important that you make yourself as comfortable as possible during the flight. Loosen your clothing, remove your jacket and avoid anything pressing against your body as this could constrict your blood circulation. Use the seat recline as well as the lumbar support that is available on most seats, to find a comfortable position. All SriLankan seats are fitted with a footrest that, while aiding your comfort, will also help relieve pressure on your calf muscles.

Wear glasses instead of contact lenses

The aircraft cabin air is drier than you may be used to and your contact lenses may cause eye irritation. We recommend that you wear your glasses inflight. Your eyes will feel fresher and less tired when you arrive and you can then put your contact lenses back in.

Rehydrate

We recommend that you drink water or juices as frequently as every hour or so during the flight. Tea and coffee should be drunk in moderation as these are diuretics and may increase your body's dehydration.

Adjust your body clock

It is important to consider your body's natural biological clock. To avoid the common symptoms of sleeplessness, tiredness, loss of appetite or appetite at odd hours, we recommend that, for your next flight, you get a good nights rest beforehand.

Keep your blood circulating

Sitting still or inactive for long periods of time should be avoided. The central blood vessels in your legs can become compressed making it more difficult for the blood to circulate. Doing some light exercises on your lower legs and calf muscles will encourage blood flow and help reduce muscle fatigue and swelling in the feet. For a guide to the recommended exercises, see the diagrams below.
Doing these exercises whilst flying will help you feel better when you arrive. When resting, try to make sure your body is in a comfortable position and turn frequently so your body is not constricted or stretched for long periods of time. Try to avoid sleeping for long periods without changing position.

Exercises

We recommend that you do these light exercises for three or four minutes every hour whilst seated. This helps to encourage blood circulation.

Knee, Thigh and Toe Lifts

Lift your knees slightly whilst at the same time clenching your thigh muscles and pointing your toes up and down. Repeat this between 10 and 20 times with one leg and then with the other.

Foot Rocking

Place your feet on the floor. Then, keeping your toes on the floor, lift your heels up, hold the position, and then lower back to the floor. Then, lift your toes whilst keeping your heels on the floor. Repeat for 30 seconds.

e-Ticketing SriLankan Airlines

http://travel-to-sri-lanka.blogspot.com/2012/04/e-ticketing-srilankan-airlines.html
e-Ticketing SriLankan Airlines
Travel tips for your trip to Sri Lanka Hotel Maps Famous Places in Sri Lanka helps you to make your trip to Sri Lanka in the holiday a Splendid One

e-Ticketing SriLankan Airlines

What are e-Tickets?

When a passenger uses an e-Ticket, all the travel related information that was earlier available in a traditional paper ticket is stored electronically in the Computer Reservation System of SriLankan Airlines. Therefore the passenger does not have to collect the traditional paper tickets from our offices.
A print receipt of the e-Ticket showing the relevant travel details will be e-mailed to the passenger. The passenger is required to print and carry this document along with his passport for international travel, as he may need to present it at security, immigration, customs, and check-in points.

The benefits of an e-Ticket

  • It is a very relaxing experience for the passenger when he uses the e-Ticketing facility, as it provides a sense of security as an e-Ticket cannot be lost, mislaid or stolen. The reason for this is that every e-Ticket issued by SriLankan Airlines is safely stored on our Computer Reservation System. On advice to us that the print receipt has been misplaced, a duplicate could be e-mailed or even faxed on request to the passenger
  • It is no longer required for the passenger to visit an SriLankan Airlines Ticket Offices to collect his ticket or wait for it to be delivered to him.
  • Travelling using an e-Ticket also provides the passenger to easily make changes to his booking where permitted at any time by phone or in person without the added hassle of having to visit one of our offices as his itinerary is stored safely with SriLankan Airlines.

How to obtain an e-Ticket?

A passenger is required to make an online booking, using the SriLankan Airlines Online Booking Facility. The option "e-Ticket" should be chosen as the Ticket Delivery Option. On completion of the booking process, an e-mail will be sent to the passenger as booking confirmation, which will contain the print receipt/ticket for the e-Ticket purchased online. The passenger should print the e-mailed print/ticket receipt, as it is now his valid travel document.
The Credit Card holder must be one among the travelling party for all the e-Tickets purchased through the SriLankan Airlines Online Booking Facility. This facility is currently available for travel between destinations, Colombo, Male, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Tokyo, Bangkok, Chennai, Bombay, Delhi, Bangalore, Trivandrum, Tiruchirapally, Karachi, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Riyadh, Muscat, Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Jeddah, Dubai, Melbourne and Sydney (code share).

Important Information for passengers travelling with e-Tickets

  • For e-Tickets purchased using the Internet Booking Facility the credit card transaction should be transacted by a member of the travelling group.
  • When travelling internationally, the e-Ticket print receipt and the passport must be presented at airports.
  • A passenger is totally unauthorized to make any alterations to the information provided on the print receipt of the e-Ticket.
  • Since the travel itinerary of a passenger is securely stored in the SriLankan Airlines Computer Reservation System, the passport number stated on our system and on the print receipt of the e-Ticket should always tally with the passengers' passport number
  • Boarding will be denied to a passenger if the passport presented by him at check-in differs from the passport number shown on the print receipt of the e-Ticket.
  • If a passenger wishes to make any changes at any time, such as date changes etc., to his existing travel requirements, he will have to contact one of our SriLankan Airlines Offices and seek assistance.
  • With every change made to a passenger's itinerary, he is requested to obtain a fresh print out of each print receipt.
  • If there is any change to the passport, the passenger should inform such changes to the nearest ticket office. Further details can be obtained from bookings@srilankan.com.

Flight reconfirmation - SriLankan Airlines
Travel tips for your trip to Sri Lanka Hotel Maps Famous Places in Sri Lanka helps you to make your trip to Sri Lanka in the holiday a Splendid One

Flight reconfirmation - SriLankan Airlines
Before You Fly - SriLankan Airlines
Flight reconfirmation
Passengers flying between Sri Lanka and India must reconfirm their reservations if breaking their journey for more than 72 hours at either of these points. Please see SriLankan Airlines Offices for a list of all SriLankan Airlines' ticket offices and telephone numbers around the world.
Consult your Doctor
If you have any medical concerns about making a long journey, or if you suffer from a respiratory or cardiovascular condition, it is best to consult your doctor before travelling. Think about the destination as well as the journey. Ask your doctor whether you will need any vaccinations or special medications. Note that some high altitude or industrial cities can aggravate asthma or other respiratory ailments. For example, Mexico City is at 9000 ft.
There are many over-the-counter medications available, but we recommend that you always consult your doctor to determine which are suitable for you.
Avoid overeating
During a long flight, when your body is considerably less active than usual, your digestive system slows down and is less able to digest large quantities of food. Eat lightly and sensibly before the flight.
Arrive early
Allow yourself plenty of time to check-in, shop and reach the gate. Rushing can place your body under mental and physical stress. This should be avoided, especially before a long flight. Try to relax as much as possible at the airport - if you are travelling in Business Class, arrive early and enjoy the lounge facilities.
Travel lightly
Avoid carrying heavy bags through the airport and on to the aircraft. This may place the body under considerable stress that it may not be used to. Carry only essential items with you that you will need during your flight.
